CTSM-07B – Samnite Warrior (2-Piece Set)
Celebrate the proud warrior traditions of ancient Italy with CTSM-07B – Samnite Warrior, a finely detailed two-piece set available from The Military Workshop.
Although little is known about the size of the Samnite cavalry, historians generally believe it played only a minor role due to the heavily wooded mountains that dominated Samnite territory. Like the Romans, however, Samnite horsemen are thought to have been organised into turmae, small cavalry units that provided reconnaissance and battlefield support.
One of the most distinctive features of Samnite warriors depicted in ancient artwork is the sight of brightly coloured cloths draped over their spears. Once believed to be flags or banners, many historians now interpret these as captured tunics and belts taken from defeated enemies. Displaying such trophies was a widespread custom throughout Italy and Greece, serving as a visible demonstration of a warrior's courage and success in battle.
Beautifully sculpted with exceptional historical detail, this set is a perfect addition to any Samnite or early Roman collection.
