CTSM-09N – 4 Samnite Warriors | John Jenkins Designs

CTSM-09N brings together a larger group of Samnite warriors, representing one of Rome’s most formidable Italian enemies.

The Samnites inhabited the rugged country of central and southern Italy and fought Rome through a long series of conflicts between the fourth and third centuries BC.

Their style of warfare was particularly suited to mountainous terrain. Rather than depend entirely on the rigid formations associated with the Greek phalanx, Samnite troops could operate more flexibly and were experienced in mobile warfare and ambushes.

Their appearance was equally varied, with brightly coloured tunics, different styles of shield and distinctive Italian armour.

John Jenkins has advised that these are the final Samnite releases, making CTSM-09N particularly noteworthy for collectors of the series.
