CW3LD-04 - Third Continental Dragoon Trooper | John Jenkins Designs

This mounted cavalry figure represents a trooper of the Third Continental Dragoons during the American War of Independence, specifically the Battle of Cowpens in January 1781.

The trooper is depicted with his sword raised above his head, capturing the action of a mounted soldier preparing to strike during close combat.

The Third Continental Dragoons formed part of the American cavalry commanded by Colonel William Washington, who served under Brigadier General Daniel Morgan during the Southern Campaign.

Cavalry was particularly important at Cowpens because of the threat posed by Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton and the experienced British Legion. Morgan's regular dragoons were supported by additional volunteer militia horsemen.

The American mounted troops performed important roles during the battle, including supporting infantry movements and engaging enemy cavalry.

This figure provides a useful addition to a charging cavalry formation, with the raised sword creating a strong sense of movement and battlefield action.

It can be displayed alongside other Third Continental Dragoons and militia cavalry to recreate the American mounted contingent at Cowpens.
