CW3LD-06 - Continental Dragoon | John Jenkins Designs

This mounted American Continental Dragoon depicts a cavalryman wearing a white tunic with his sword extended forward, representing the Third Continental Dragoons during the Battle of Cowpens on 17 January 1781.

The Third Continental Dragoons served under Colonel William Washington and formed an important element of the mounted forces available to Brigadier General Daniel Morgan during the Southern Campaign of the American War of Independence.

Dragoons carried out reconnaissance, mounted security and battlefield support, while their ability to move quickly allowed them to respond to changing tactical situations.

At Cowpens, the American cavalry faced the experienced mounted troops of Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton's British Legion. Morgan reinforced his regular cavalry with additional volunteer militia horsemen to help counter this threat.

The forward-extended sword pose makes this figure particularly suitable for displaying as part of an advancing or charging cavalry formation.

CW3LD-06 can be combined with the other Third Continental Dragoon figures to recreate the mounted American forces that participated in the Battle of Cowpens.
