CW3LD-07B - Continental Dragoon | John Jenkins Designs

This mounted figure represents a soldier of the Third Continental Dragoons serving with the American forces at the Battle of Cowpens on 17 January 1781.

The figure is depicted wearing a yellow tunic, with his sword extended above his head in an action pose suitable for recreating a cavalry charge.

The Third Continental Dragoons served under Colonel William Washington and formed an important part of the mounted force available to Brigadier General Daniel Morgan during the Southern Campaign.

American dragoons were employed in reconnaissance, mounted security, battlefield support and attacks against enemy formations. Their mobility was particularly valuable when facing British cavalry, including the experienced horsemen of Tarleton's British Legion.

The Battle of Cowpens demonstrated the effectiveness of Morgan's coordinated use of infantry and cavalry, resulting in a significant defeat for British forces in South Carolina.

CW3LD-07B provides a dynamic mounted figure for collectors recreating the American cavalry at Cowpens and can be combined with other Third Continental Dragoon releases to form a larger mounted unit.
