CW71-08 - 71st Regiment of Foot Regimental Standard Bearer | John Jenkins Designs

This figure depicts a regimental standard bearer of the British 71st Regiment of Foot, known as Fraser's Highlanders, during the American War of Independence.

The figure carries the regiment's flag, representing an important symbol of the battalion's identity and military traditions.

The 71st Regiment was raised in Scotland in 1775 by Lieutenant-General Simon Fraser of Lovat and was specifically organised for service in the American colonies.

Following operations in the northern colonies, the regiment was deployed to the Southern Campaign, where it participated in British military operations throughout the Carolinas.

At the Battle of Cowpens on 17 January 1781, the 1st Battalion served under Major Archibald McArthur as part of Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton's command.

The regiment suffered significant losses during the battle, which became one of the major American victories of the Southern Campaign.

CW71-08 provides an important command and colour-party figure for a Fraser's Highlanders collection.

It can be displayed with CW71-09 Union Flag Standard Bearer, CW71-02 Drummer and the regiment's infantry figures to build a representative Highland formation.
