CW7FL-02 - 7th Regiment of Foot Standard Bearer | John Jenkins Designs

This standard bearer represents the British 7th Regiment of Foot, known as the Royal Fusiliers, during the American War of Independence and the Battle of Cowpens on 17 January 1781.

The Royal Fusiliers were an established British infantry regiment that participated in the Southern Campaign under Lord Cornwallis.

During the latter months of 1780, the regiment was employed protecting British communication and supply lines between Camden and Winnsboro in South Carolina.

In January 1781, a detachment of 171 Royal Fusiliers joined Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton's force and subsequently fought at the Battle of Cowpens against the American army commanded by Brigadier General Daniel Morgan.

The regiment occupied the left of the British battle line. During the defeat, the Royal Fusiliers' colours were captured by American forces.

Regimental colours were important symbols of military identity and provided a focus for troops during formation and battle.

This standard bearer is an essential addition to a Royal Fusiliers command group and can be displayed alongside the regiment's advancing infantry and casualty figures.
