CW7FL-04 - 7th Regiment of Foot, Two Infantry Casualties | John Jenkins Designs
This two-figure set depicts casualties from the British 7th Regiment of Foot, the Royal Fusiliers, during the Battle of Cowpens on 17 January 1781.
The set includes one infantryman falling after being shot and a second wounded soldier crawling, providing two contrasting poses that capture the intensity of eighteenth-century battlefield fighting.
The Royal Fusiliers served during the British Southern Campaign, undertaking duties that included protecting important supply and communication routes through South Carolina.
In January 1781, a detachment of the regiment joined Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton's force for the operation against Brigadier General Daniel Morgan's American army.
The Fusiliers were positioned on the left of the British line during the engagement at Cowpens.
The battle resulted in a decisive American victory, with heavy British losses and the capture of numerous soldiers.
These casualty figures add an important historical element to a Royal Fusiliers display, providing a contrast to the regiment's advancing and firing infantry.
CW7FL-04 can also be combined with CW7FL-04N to represent a larger group of battlefield casualties.
