CWBL-04 - British Legion Trooper | John Jenkins Designs

This mounted British Legion trooper represents a cavalryman of Tarleton's Raiders during the American War of Independence, particularly the Battle of Cowpens on 17 January 1781.

The figure is depicted carrying his sword upright, providing a distinctive pose suitable for recreating a mounted cavalry formation.

The British Legion was a Loyalist regiment raised in 1778, consisting of infantry, cavalry and light artillery. Its combined organisation allowed the regiment to conduct mobile operations during the British campaigns in the American colonies.

Under Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton, the Legion became particularly active in the Southern Campaign, where its cavalry was employed in reconnaissance, rapid movement and attacks against American forces.

The green-coated Legion served alongside regular British units, including the 17th Light Dragoons, during the fighting at Cowpens.

The engagement ended in an important American victory under Brigadier General Daniel Morgan.

CWBL-04 provides a mounted trooper with a sword-up pose that complements the other cavalry figures in the British Legion range, making it suitable for building a larger representation of Tarleton's mounted force.
