CWBL-05 - British Legion Trooper | John Jenkins Designs

This mounted British Legion trooper represents one of the Loyalist cavalrymen who served under Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton during the American War of Independence.

The British Legion was raised in New York in 1778 and combined mounted and foot soldiers with light artillery, enabling it to operate as a flexible military formation.

Its cavalry became particularly well known during the British Southern Campaign, where Tarleton directed operations against American Continental forces and militia.

The Legion's soldiers were distinguished by their green uniforms, and the mounted troops played an important role in reconnaissance, pursuing opposing forces and supporting British battlefield operations.

On 17 January 1781, the British Legion participated in the Battle of Cowpens against the American army commanded by Brigadier General Daniel Morgan.

Although Tarleton's troops had experienced success during earlier operations, the Battle of Cowpens ended in a decisive American victory.

CWBL-05 is suitable for collectors building a representation of the British Legion cavalry and can be displayed alongside other Tarleton's Raiders troopers, officers and infantrymen.
