CWBL-08 - British Legion Infantry, Two Figures | John Jenkins Designs
This two-figure set depicts marching infantrymen of the British Legion, the American Loyalist formation that served under British command during the American War of Independence.
The British Legion, commonly referred to as Tarleton's Raiders, was established in July 1778 and developed into a mobile fighting force incorporating infantry, cavalry and light artillery.
Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton became closely associated with the regiment during the Southern Campaign, where its mounted and foot soldiers participated in British operations throughout the Carolinas.
The Legion's distinctive green uniforms helped distinguish its Loyalist troops from the regular British regiments serving alongside them.
At the Battle of Cowpens on 17 January 1781, Tarleton's forces confronted the American army commanded by Brigadier General Daniel Morgan, resulting in a significant defeat for the British.
This set contains two marching infantrymen and is suitable for recreating a British Legion formation moving towards the battlefield or operating as part of a campaign column.
It complements the larger CWBL-08N four-figure set and the mounted British Legion cavalry range.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
