CWDEL-02 - Delaware Company Standard Bearer | John Jenkins Designs

This figure represents a standard bearer of the Delaware Company, part of the American Continental Army during the Southern Campaign of the American War of Independence.

The Delaware Company served under Captain Robert Kirkwood and formed part of the veteran Continental battalion commanded by Lieutenant Colonel John Eager Howard at the Battle of Cowpens on 17 January 1781.

The company's soldiers were highly regarded for their discipline and experience, having survived earlier fighting including the Battle of Camden. Their participation at Cowpens helped secure an important American victory against British forces commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton.

The standard bearer represents an important element of an eighteenth-century military formation. Colours served as a visible focus for the men and helped identify their unit amid the confusion of battle.

This figure makes an excellent centrepiece for a Delaware Company formation, particularly when accompanied by CWDEL-01 Officer and Drummer and the available Continental infantry sets.
