CWDEL-05N - Delaware Company, Four Infantrymen | John Jenkins Designs

Representing the Delaware Company of the American Continental Army, this four-figure set depicts soldiers engaged in musket fire during the Battle of Cowpens on 17 January 1781.

The set includes two standing infantrymen firing their muskets and two kneeling infantrymen firing, providing a combination of poses suitable for recreating the Continental firing line.

The Delaware Company formed part of the experienced Continental infantry commanded by Lieutenant Colonel John Eager Howard within Brigadier General Daniel Morgan's army. Alongside three companies from Maryland, these veteran soldiers formed the disciplined backbone of the American position.

Many of the Delaware soldiers had survived the earlier defeat at Camden, and the company was commanded by Captain Robert Kirkwood. Their clothing reflected the difficulties of supplying the Continental Army, with hunting shirts and practical overalls replacing elements of their original uniforms.

This four-figure set provides an excellent foundation for building an American infantry formation at Cowpens, particularly when displayed alongside the Delaware Company's command and standard bearer figures.
