FFL085 – Rif Warrior Kneeling Firing Upwards | Thomas Gunn

The Rif War of 1921–1926 was a major conflict in northern Morocco, where Rif fighters resisted Spanish and French colonial forces.

Under the leadership of Abd el-Krim, the Rif resistance made effective use of the region's mountainous landscape, conducting attacks and defending positions throughout the difficult terrain.

The arrival of substantial French forces in 1925 expanded the conflict, bringing units of the French Army, including elements of the French Foreign Legion, into engagements against the Rif resistance.

The rocky hillsides, narrow streets and fortified settlements of North Africa created an environment where combat often took place between forces occupying different elevations.

FFL085 – Rif Warrior Kneeling Firing Upwards by Thomas Gunn depicts a Rif fighter kneeling with his rifle raised, taking aim at an enemy positioned above him.

The kneeling stance offers an effective contrast to standing infantry figures and makes this miniature particularly well suited to recreating fighting around buildings, walls or elevated terrain.

Designed to complement other Thomas Gunn Rif Warriors and French Foreign Legion figures, this piece adds further variety to North African battle scenes.
