The GAN-03 figure is part of the 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Series depicting the famous last stand at Last Stand at Gandamak.

It represents Brevet Captain Thomas C. Collins of the 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot during the final moments of the disastrous retreat from Kabul in the First Anglo-Afghan War.

Historical Background

On 13 January 1842, a small remnant of British troops and camp followers made their final stand near the village of Gandamak, Afghanistan. The retreating force had been almost completely destroyed while attempting to withdraw from Kabul to Jalalabad during harsh winter conditions and constant attacks by Afghan tribesmen.

The stand at Gandamak became one of the most iconic episodes in British military history. Soldiers of the 44th Regiment reportedly fought to the last with muskets, bayonets, and swords after ammunition was exhausted.
