GG91-16 – Two Highlanders, Ammunition Box and Private

Ammunition was the lifeblood of a Victorian firing line. The single-shot Martini-Henry rifle could consume ammunition rapidly during sustained action, making the supply of cartridges to the men at the perimeter critically important.

GG91-16 takes the 91st Highlanders collection beyond the usual firing poses by incorporating two Highlanders together with an ammunition box, portraying an important part of keeping the regiment in action.

Position the set just behind the firing line, where ammunition could be brought forward and distributed to the men as required. It adds both historical interest and another layer of activity to a Gingindlovu display.
