As Lord Chelmsford's force advanced towards the besieged garrison at Eshowe, mounted troops provided the column with valuable mobility beyond the slower-moving infantry and wagons.

GGMI-11 represents Mounted Infantry of the Eshowe Relief Column in a two-piece set.

These men are ideal for the edges of a diorama – scouting the road ahead, watching the surrounding countryside or moving between the main column and its outer screen. Their mounted appearance also introduces height and movement among the mass of infantry.
