GGNC-05 – Natal Carabineers
The British forces that fought the Anglo-Zulu War were not composed solely of regular infantry from Britain. Local colonial units provided invaluable knowledge of the terrain and played an important role throughout the campaign.
Among them were the Natal Carabineers, a mounted volunteer unit whose members were drawn from the colony of Natal.
GGNC-05 – Natal Carabineers by John Jenkins Designs represents these colonial horsemen and adds an important dimension to an Anglo-Zulu War display. Mounted troops were particularly valuable for reconnaissance, carrying messages and covering the considerable distances involved in campaigning across Southern Africa.
For collectors wishing to portray more than just the familiar British redcoat and Zulu warrior, colonial units such as the Natal Carabineers help tell the broader story of the conflict.
GGNC-05 is available from The Military Workshop and makes a superb companion to the other British, colonial and Zulu figures in the range.
