GGZ-29 – Zulu Warrior with Martini-Henry
Capture a fascinating aspect of the Anglo-Zulu War with GGZ-29 – Zulu Warrior with Martini-Henry, a beautifully hand-painted figure from The Battle of Gingindlovu collection, available from The Military Workshop.
This figure represents a warrior of the inGobamakhosi Regiment, one of the distinguished regiments of the Zulu Impi, armed with a captured Martini-Henry rifle. Although the traditional iklwa stabbing spear and cowhide shield remained the primary weapons of the Zulu army, firearms became increasingly common as the campaign progressed. Many rifles were obtained through trade or recovered from British battlefields, particularly after the Zulu victory at Isandlwana.
While few Zulu warriors received formal firearms training, many became surprisingly effective marksmen through experience and determination. Armed with Britain's own service rifle, this warrior reflects the adaptability and resourcefulness that made the Zulu army such a formidable opponent.
Expertly sculpted and richly hand-painted, GGZ-29 is a distinctive addition to any Anglo-Zulu War collection, representing the evolving tactics of the Zulu forces during the 1879 campaign.
