The Gallipoli Campaign lasted for more than eight months and subjected its soldiers to battle casualties, disease, heat, cold, poor sanitation and constant physical strain.
GLA-16W returns the focus to the individual cost of that campaign, portraying ANZAC casualties in the white-shirt style seen throughout the series.
The set is especially effective when incorporated subtly into a larger assault. A casualty placed beside a charging group or below an officer can change the emotional tone of the entire scene, reminding the viewer of what the attack demanded from the men involved.
Combined with the other GLA casualty releases, collectors can create a battlefield that tells a much fuller story than one composed solely of soldiers advancing successfully.
