GLT-14 – Turkish Infantry with Grenade

GLT-14 captures an Ottoman infantryman armed with one of the defining weapons of close-range trench warfare – the hand grenade.

The confined battlefield at Gallipoli frequently brought opposing troops within distances at which grenades became extremely useful. They could reach into trenches and positions that were difficult to engage effectively with direct rifle fire.

This figure provides an excellent companion to the Ottoman firing sets. Position him slightly behind the riflemen preparing to throw, or closer to the action as part of a local attack or counterattack.

Together with GLT-08 and GLT-09, collectors can build a dedicated grenade section showing just how varied the fighting along the Gallipoli trenches became.
