GWA-08(53) – Two Infantry Advancing – 53rd Battalion

The 53rd Battalion's soldiers served in an environment where even a few hundred metres of ground could become the objective of a major operation.

GWA-08(53) depicts two infantrymen of the 53rd Battalion AIF advancing, capturing the movement of Australian troops away from the relative protection of their positions and towards the enemy.

Their battalion belonged to the 14th Brigade of the 5th Australian Division and fought through the Western Front campaigns following its costly introduction to battle at Fromelles.

The figures are ideally suited to shell-torn terrain. Scatter them among craters rather than placing them side-by-side, add GWA-02(53) as their officer and position supporting weapons behind the advance to create a scene with genuine depth.
