GWA-11(60) – Stokes Mortar Crew – 60th Battalion – 10 Pieces
GWA-11(60) brings one of the First World War infantry battalion's most useful support weapons to the 60th Battalion AIF in a substantial ten-piece set.
The Stokes mortar's ability to fire bombs on a high trajectory made it well suited to trench warfare. Enemy troops protected from ordinary rifle fire by earthworks could still be engaged from above, while the weapon's relative portability allowed it to accompany infantry operations.
John Jenkins Designs has used the generous figure and accessory count to create much more than a standalone weapon. The result is a complete mortar-team scene showing the human activity required to operate and supply it.
Position the crew behind the 60th Battalion's advancing infantry, perhaps within a damaged trench or shell crater. Combined with GWA-02(60) and GWA-05(60), the result can become a particularly comprehensive 60th Battalion display.
