A busy supply point can become one of the most interesting areas of a large First World War diorama.
GWB-23 – Two Unloading Supplies #3 provides another pair of workers handling the enormous flow of material required to keep an army operating.
Behind the trenches, supplies moved through a succession of railheads, depots, motor vehicles, horse-drawn transport and carrying parties before finally reaching the front-line troops. It was an immense operation that continued day and night.
The different poses in the GWB unloading series allow collectors to build a genuine working scene. Combine GWB-23 with GWB-22 around a truck or wagon, scatter boxes and equipment nearby and add a driver or despatch rider to increase the activity.
The result provides an excellent contrast to the destruction of No Man's Land – showing the organised logistical effort that existed immediately behind it.
