GWB-53 – Artillery Crew Standing – Platform Base
British artillery became one of the dominant forces on the Western Front. By the later years of the war, enormous quantities of guns and ammunition were concentrated for major offensives, with artillery tasked not only with bombarding enemy trenches but also with cutting wire, counter-battery work and supporting infantry advances.
GWB-53 – Artillery Crew Standing provides another member of the gun team, presented on a platform-style base for incorporation into a larger artillery position.
Standing crew figures are particularly useful around a gun because not every artilleryman would be physically loading or firing at the same instant. Men waited for instructions, observed the work of the detachment and prepared for the next stage of the firing sequence.
Mixed with shell handlers, an NCO and other artillery crew, GWB-53 helps transform a standalone gun into a properly manned battery position.
Ammunition, wooden platforms and supporting accessories can then be added around the crew to complete the scene.
The Military Workshop is pleased to offer this John Jenkins Designs artillery crewman as another building block for a detailed Western Front gun position.
