GWB-55 – Artillery Crew Standing – Platform Base

The tremendous artillery battles of the First World War depended upon gun crews performing the same demanding procedures repeatedly, sometimes for hours at a time.

GWB-55 – Artillery Crew Standing adds another member of that team and is supplied on a platform base, allowing him to integrate naturally with the surrounding gun position.

Artillery crews worked in an environment of deafening noise and tremendous physical effort. Heavy shells had to be moved and prepared while the gun itself required constant attention during prolonged firing.

A standing figure introduces a quieter moment into that activity. He can be awaiting an order, watching the crew or preparing to take part in the next firing sequence.

Position him among shell stacks and equipment rather than necessarily immediately beside the gun. This helps spread the battery across a larger area and creates the impression of a fully functioning artillery position.

Available from The Military Workshop – a versatile John Jenkins Designs artillery crew figure for adding further depth and realism to a Western Front battery.
