GWF-02A – Saint-Chamond Tank Commander
Inside a First World War tank, the commander faced the difficult task of controlling both men and machine while operating in conditions that were hot, noisy, cramped and frequently filled with fumes.
GWF-02A – Tank Commander is designed to accompany the French Saint-Chamond, adding the human presence behind one of the war's most unusual armoured vehicles.
Early tanks lacked the sophisticated communication and observation systems of later armoured vehicles. Commanders had to understand what was happening outside while coordinating a crew operating weapons, controls and machinery within a confined hull.
Displayed with GWF-02, this figure gives the Saint-Chamond both scale and personality. He can be shown observing from the vehicle, during a halt or as part of a small crew scene.
