GWF-26 – Two German Prisoners

By the later stages of the First World War, major offensives could result in thousands of enemy soldiers being captured as positions were overrun and units became isolated.

GWF-26 – Two German Prisoners introduces this often-overlooked aspect of the battlefield into the French Great War collection.

Prisoners had to be disarmed, searched and moved away from the fighting before being processed farther behind the lines. On a battlefield already crowded with troops, casualties and supplies, groups of captured soldiers moving towards the rear became another part of the enormous logistical challenge.

These two figures can be positioned under escort by French infantry or simply shown walking towards the rear while French troops continue advancing in the opposite direction.

That opposing movement can create a particularly effective visual story: one army pressing forward while captured soldiers from the other side leave the battlefield.

Available through The Military Workshop – a highly useful John Jenkins Designs two-figure German prisoner set adding another layer of realism to a French Western Front display.
