GWUS-02 – Two Engineers
Modern warfare required armies not only to fight over terrain but constantly to build, repair, clear and reshape it.
GWUS-02 – Two Engineers represents American engineering personnel whose skills were vital to the operation of the American Expeditionary Forces in France.
Engineers repaired roads and bridges, constructed defensive positions, maintained communications routes and carried out a vast range of other practical tasks. The enormous movement of American troops and supplies placed particularly heavy demands on the infrastructure behind the front.
These two figures can therefore be used almost anywhere in a Great War diorama. Place them near damaged roads, around a bridge, beside transport or working in a newly occupied position.
Their presence also adds welcome variety to an American collection, showing that the AEF depended upon far more than riflemen alone.
Available from The Military Workshop – a versatile two-figure John Jenkins Designs American engineer set representing the practical skills that kept a modern army moving and fighting.
