GWUS-05 – Junior Officer
The rapid expansion of the United States Army following America's entry into the First World War created an enormous demand for officers capable of leading newly organised formations overseas.
GWUS-05 – Junior Officer represents one of the younger leaders of the American Expeditionary Forces.
Junior officers lived and fought close to the soldiers they commanded. In battle they were expected to direct small units, interpret orders and maintain control while dealing with casualties, broken communications and unfamiliar terrain.
By 1918, American formations were increasingly committed to major operations, including fighting around Saint-Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne.
GWUS-05 can stand at the centre of marching infantry, engineers or other American troops, providing the command figure that brings those separate releases together as a coherent unit.
Available from The Military Workshop – a commanding John Jenkins Designs junior officer representing the young leaders of the American Expeditionary Forces in France.
