HITT-09B – Hittite Spearman

HITT-09B offers another individual Hittite warrior for collectors expanding the infantry formations of the Battle of Kadesh.

His spear places him within one of the most enduring military traditions of the ancient world. Long before the sophisticated pike formations of later centuries, spears gave infantrymen reach and allowed groups of warriors to present a dangerous line of points towards an approaching enemy.

In a Kadesh display, this individual figure can be positioned among larger blocks of infantry or separated slightly from the main formation to suggest movement across the battlefield.

The real strength of releases such as HITT-09B becomes apparent when several different poses are combined. Instead of an artificial row of identical men, the collector can create a force that appears to be actively manoeuvring and reacting to events around it.
