HLANC-11 – Lancastrian Archer

The English longbow remained a formidable battlefield weapon during the Wars of the Roses, decades after its famous successes in the Hundred Years' War.

HLANC-11 – Lancastrian Archer represents one of the bowmen serving the Lancastrian cause during England's dynastic struggles of the 15th century.

Archers could open a battle with volleys designed to disrupt and injure the opposing formation before the armies closed for hand-to-hand combat. During the Wars of the Roses, however, both sides drew upon similar English military traditions, meaning Yorkist and Lancastrian armies could each contain substantial numbers of experienced bowmen.

The figure is best displayed as part of a wider archer line rather than in isolation. Mix him with HLANC-12, HLANC-14 and HLANC-16 to create the impression of men at different stages of shooting, preparing and observing.

Available through The Military Workshop – a finely detailed John Jenkins Designs Lancastrian Archer bringing the famous English longbow into the bitter battles of the Wars of the Roses.
