The Hastati formed the first line of the Roman legion during the Mid Republic. Typically younger soldiers beginning their military careers, they were expected to absorb the enemy's initial attack before attempting to break opposing formations through aggressive combat.

Armed with the fearsome pilum and the iconic gladius, the Hastati combined disciplined formations with exceptional flexibility. Before closing with the enemy, they hurled their heavy javelins to disrupt shields and formations, creating openings for close-quarters fighting.

Expertly sculpted and richly hand-painted, this four-figure set captures the confidence and determination of Rome's frontline infantry during one of the Republic's most successful military periods.
