HMRR-05Y – Hastati – Yellow Shields

The yellow-shielded HMRR-05Y Hastati provides collectors with another variation for the forward ranks of a Mid-Republican Roman legion.

Roman success during this period was not based upon one particular weapon alone. Organisation, discipline, manpower and the ability to replace losses all contributed to the Republic's extraordinary military resilience.

The Hastati themselves combined missile and close-combat capabilities. The pilum could disrupt an opponent immediately before contact, while the large shield and sword equipped the soldier for the fighting that followed.

HMRR-05Y can be mixed with the HMRR-04Y and HMRR-04YN formations, helping vary the poses while retaining the distinctive yellow-shield appearance.

For a larger display, create separate red- and yellow-shielded bodies of infantry with their own command figures, producing the impression of several Roman formations operating together.
