The armies of the Mid-Republic fought using the famous three-line formation known as the triplex acies, with the Hastati forming the first line of heavy infantry. Behind them waited the Principes and, ultimately, the veteran Triarii.

HMRR-05YN – Hastati from John Jenkins Designs gives collectors another opportunity to increase the size and depth of this distinctive Roman formation.

Rather than depicting the later Imperial legionary, these figures represent an earlier and particularly important period in Roman military development—a time encompassing Rome's struggle with Carthage and its emergence as a Mediterranean superpower.
