HMRR-14R – Hastatus – Red Shield
The Roman Army of the Mid-Republic belongs to one of the most dramatic periods in ancient military history.
These were the generations that fought Pyrrhus, battled Carthage through the Punic Wars and steadily expanded Roman influence throughout the Mediterranean.
HMRR-14R represents a red-shielded Hastatus from that military world.
Rather than portraying a famous general or legendary personality, the figure represents the ordinary heavy infantryman upon whom Roman campaigning ultimately depended. Thousands of such men marched, fought and endured the defeats and victories through which the Republic expanded.
HMRR-14R is particularly useful for strengthening an existing red-shield unit. Combine him with the earlier individual poses and larger Hastati sets to create a broad, varied battle line.
