HMRR-16R – Hastatus – Red Shield
HMRR-16R – Hastatus adds another warrior to the red-shielded infantry of the Roman Republic, ideal for collectors steadily increasing the size of their battle line.
The Mid-Republic was an age in which Rome faced opponents with very different military traditions – heavily armed Samnite warriors in Italy, Carthaginian armies combining troops from across the western Mediterranean, Gallic warriors and the sophisticated armies of the Hellenistic world.
Roman soldiers therefore had to operate against a remarkable variety of enemies.
The Hastati formed part of the adaptable military structure with which Rome met those challenges. Individual figures such as HMRR-16R can be mixed across the formation to suggest a unit actively manoeuvring rather than standing motionless.
