IC-06B – Iceni Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

The Iceni were a Brittonic tribe who inhabited eastern Britain during the Iron Age and early Roman period. Their territory included present-day Norfolk and parts of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

During the Roman conquest of Britain under Emperor Claudius in AD 43, the Iceni initially maintained an alliance with Rome. However, increasing Roman interference in their affairs eventually led to growing resentment and resistance.

The Iceni remained nominally independent under their king, Prasutagus, who ruled as an ally of Rome. Following his death around AD 60, Roman authorities disregarded his will, seized his property and annexed his kingdom.

These actions helped provoke one of the most famous uprisings against Roman rule in Britain, led by Prasutagus' widow, Queen Boudicca.

The Boudiccan Revolt of AD 60–61 saw the Iceni join forces with the neighbouring Trinovantes and other British tribes in a determined attempt to overthrow Roman authority.

The rebels destroyed the Roman settlements of Camulodunum (Colchester), Londinium (London) and Verulamium (St Albans), inflicting heavy losses upon Roman forces.

Despite their early successes, the uprising was eventually defeated by the Roman governor, Gaius Suetonius Paulinus, whose disciplined legions overcame the larger British tribal army.

IC-06B – Iceni Warrior by John Jenkins Designs depicts a British tribal warrior charging forward, armed with a spear and carrying a shield.

This single-figure release captures the movement and intensity of a warrior advancing towards an enemy during the conflicts between the Iceni and Roman forces.

Part of the John Jenkins Designs Armies and Enemies of Ancient Rome collection, this miniature complements the other charging Iceni warriors, allowing collectors to recreate a larger tribal fighting force from the period of Boudicca's rebellion.
