IC-07A – Iceni Warrior Charging

The revolt led by Boudica in AD 60–61 brought Roman rule in Britain dangerously close to disaster. After the destruction of Camulodunum, Londinium and Verulamium, the rebellion gathered momentum as warriors from the Iceni and other disaffected groups joined the uprising.

IC-07A – Iceni Warrior Charging captures the energy of that tribal army at the moment of attack. Rather than the ordered appearance associated with Roman infantry, this warrior is shown individually surging forward, making him ideal for the leading edge of an Iceni assault.

Warriors in Iron Age Britain could carry combinations of spear, sword and shield according to their status and equipment. They did not fight as an undisciplined mob, as older stereotypes sometimes suggest; tribal armies had their own leaders, traditions and methods of warfare, although these differed markedly from the highly structured Roman military system.

IC-07A works particularly well when mixed among the other charging figures in the series. Stagger the warriors rather than arranging them in straight ranks and the result is a much more convincing rush towards the Roman line.
