IC-08B – Iceni Warrior Charging
Roman accounts of Boudica's revolt naturally tell the story largely from the perspective of the eventual victors. Recreating the Iceni in miniature offers an opportunity to focus instead on the individual warriors who made up the rebel army.
IC-08B depicts another Iceni warrior charging, providing an alternate figure for building that force.
Britain in the first century AD contained numerous tribal societies with their own political relationships, rivalries and responses to Roman expansion. Boudica's rebellion was therefore not simply a modern-style national uprising, but a major coalition centred upon groups with particular grievances against Roman rule.
The aggressive movement of IC-08B makes him an excellent companion to IC-08A. The two can be separated within a wider charge so the figures appear to be converging independently upon the Roman position.
Add terrain, fallen weapons and Roman opponents ahead and even a relatively small group can suggest the intensity of a much larger battle.
