INCA-16B - Colla Bolas Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

This Colla Bolas Warrior represents a member of the indigenous Colla people who formed part of the military traditions of the Andean region during the period of the Inca Empire.

The figure is depicted wearing a tunic with broad vertical blue-and-white stripes and carrying the distinctive bolas weapon associated with Colla warriors.

The Colla were recognisable by their traditional clothing, particularly the conical black woollen cap known as the Chukka. These caps commonly featured a crescent badge, while their tunics displayed bold vertical striped patterns.

The bolas was a specialised throwing weapon formed from two to five weighted stones enclosed in rawhide and attached to cords approximately eighteen inches long.

When thrown, the weighted cords could wrap around an enemy or entangle the legs of a horse. This made the weapon especially useful against cavalry, and historical accounts record its employment during Manco Inca's resistance to Spanish rule.

The figure reflects the diversity of weapons and fighting traditions found among the indigenous peoples associated with the Inca Empire.

An excellent companion to the red-and-white tunic variation and other Colla warriors, allowing collectors to create varied military formations.
