INCA-18B – The Conquest of America – The Inca Empire – Inca Slinger (1 pc)

The military success of the Inca Empire was built upon more than sheer numbers. Its armies employed specialised warriors equipped with a variety of traditional weapons, allowing commanders to adapt their tactics to the challenging geography of the Andes. Among these specialists, the slinger occupied a vital position, using one of humanity's oldest weapons with extraordinary effectiveness. Through years of practice, these warriors developed remarkable accuracy, enabling them to strike enemy formations long before hand-to-hand fighting began.

When Spanish conquistadors entered South America in the sixteenth century, they quickly discovered that Inca sling stones could inflict devastating injuries despite the protection offered by steel armour. Chroniclers recorded instances of horses being brought down and helmets dented by the tremendous force generated by experienced slingers. Although ultimately unable to halt the Spanish conquest, these warriors demonstrated remarkable courage in defending one of history's greatest indigenous empires.

This exceptional miniature reflects the proud traditions of the Inca military through outstanding sculptural detail and historical authenticity. The carefully designed pose conveys the fluid motion of a slinger in action, while the expertly applied hand-painted finish enhances every fold of clothing, woven accessory and facial feature. The result is a figure full of realism and character that rewards close inspection.

Collectors visiting The Military Workshop will appreciate both the fascinating history represented by this figure and the superb craftsmanship that makes it a standout addition to any ancient or New World collection.
