Long before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors, the Inca Empire had created one of the most powerful and highly organised military systems in the Americas. Its armies incorporated troops equipped with a variety of weapons, including one of the simplest yet potentially devastating weapons of the ancient world—the sling.

INCA-19A – Inca Slinger by John Jenkins Designs depicts a warrior preparing to use this traditional missile weapon.

In skilled hands, a sling could hurl stones or specially selected projectiles with considerable force and range. Slingers provided valuable missile support, allowing an army to attack an opponent before the main body of troops closed for hand-to-hand combat.

With its distinctive costume and active pose, INCA-19A introduces a very different style of warrior to a collection and works especially well when grouped with other Inca troops to create a layered battlefield formation.
