INCA-19BN – Three Inca Slingers
INCA-19BN – Three Inca Slingers gives collectors another opportunity to build the Inca army beyond its close-combat warriors and create a more complete representation of its battlefield capabilities.
The Inca Empire reached its greatest extent shortly before the Spanish invasion, but it was also experiencing a major internal crisis. The struggle between Atahualpa and Huáscar had developed into a destructive civil war, leaving the empire politically divided at the time Francisco Pizarro and his expedition entered Inca territory.
The Spanish therefore encountered not a static civilisation waiting to be conquered, but a vast empire emerging from internal conflict and possessing established armies, commanders and military traditions of its own.
Slingers such as these represented one element of that military strength. Combine the three figures with INCA-18AN, INCA-18BN and INCA-19AN to create a substantial body of missile troops supporting the main Inca battle line.
Placed behind halberdiers and other warriors, they give the finished display both visual depth and a much stronger sense of how an Inca force could combine different weapons.
