JJCLUB-2010 – Captain John Jenkins – Glengarry Light Infantry

Captain John Jenkins of the Glengarry Light Infantry brings the Collectors' Club series forward into the military history of British North America during the War of 1812.

The Glengarry Light Infantry Fencibles were raised in Upper Canada and became an important light infantry unit during the conflict between Britain and the United States. Their role reflected the particular demands of warfare in North America, where woods, waterways, scattered settlements and difficult communications frequently shaped military operations.

Light infantry were expected to operate with greater flexibility than troops confined entirely to conventional close-order formations. They could screen larger bodies of soldiers, skirmish, patrol and operate effectively across broken terrain.

JJCLUB-2010 represents Captain John Jenkins as an officer of this distinctive Canadian-raised formation. He can be placed at the head of Glengarry troops, incorporated into a woodland skirmish or used as a standalone personality figure within a War of 1812 collection.

The combination of an identifiable officer and an historically interesting unit makes this a particularly appealing Collectors' Club release.

Available from The Military Workshop – a characterful John Jenkins Designs portrayal of Captain John Jenkins of the Glengarry Light Infantry, representing the Canadian frontier fighting of the War of 1812.
