JJCLUB-2016F – Soldato Carlo Terrinoni – Carignan-Salières Regiment

The Carignan-Salières Regiment occupies an important place in the military and colonial history of New France.

Originally formed in Europe, the regiment was sent to North America in 1665 to strengthen French military power and confront threats to the colony. Its deployment represented one of the first substantial commitments of regular French troops to New France.

JJCLUB-2016F – Soldato Carlo Terrinoni provides an individual soldier from this fascinating 17th-century regiment.

The regiment campaigned against the Haudenosaunee, particularly the Mohawk, and helped construct a chain of forts intended to strengthen French control and protect settlements. After the regiment's service in Canada ended, many officers and soldiers remained in New France as settlers, giving the unit a lasting influence beyond its military role.

Terrinoni can be displayed with other Carignan-Salières troops, around a wilderness fort or within a column moving through the forests of New France.
