Few images are more closely associated with the Jacobite Rising of 1745 than that of the Highland warrior advancing rapidly towards the government line with sword in hand.

JR-10 – Highlander Charging with Sword captures that moment of movement and commitment.

The Jacobite army raised by Prince Charles Edward Stuart – Bonnie Prince Charlie – included Highland clan regiments as well as Lowland units, cavalry and troops with connections to French service. The Highlanders nevertheless became the most enduring visual symbol of the Rising.

The famous “Highland charge” depended upon closing the distance to the enemy quickly. Firearms were certainly part of Highland warfare, but once close combat began, swords and other hand weapons could come into play.

JR-10 is ideally placed towards the front of an attacking formation, several steps ahead of slower-moving figures. Combine him with other charging Highlanders to create a loose, fast-moving body rather than a perfectly straight line.
