The Battle of Culloden, fought on 16 April 1746, marked the dramatic conclusion of the Jacobite Rising and forever changed the history of the Scottish Highlands. Under the leadership of Prince Charles Edward Stuart, thousands of Highland clansmen marched south in an attempt to restore the House of Stuart to the British throne. Although the campaign initially enjoyed spectacular success, it ultimately ended on the bleak moorland near Inverness, where the Jacobite Army faced the disciplined government forces commanded by the Duke of Cumberland.

Highland warriors were renowned throughout Europe for their courage and ferocious charge. Armed with broadswords, targes and pistols, they relied upon speed and determination to overwhelm their opponents before disciplined musket volleys could break their momentum. At Culloden, however, difficult ground and superior government tactics blunted the famous Highland Charge, resulting in a devastating defeat that brought an end to the Jacobite cause.

This beautifully sculpted Highlander captures the spirit and determination of those who fought for their clans and their prince. Every detail of the traditional Highland dress, weaponry and equipment has been faithfully reproduced, while the rich hand-painted finish highlights the individuality and character of the figure.
