Arab mercenary soldiers were employed by various Indian powers, including Maratha rulers, and developed reputations as determined infantry.

A standard bearer and musician immediately gives such troops a stronger sense of organisation. The standard provides a visual identity and rallying point, while military music could help communicate movement and maintain cohesion.

This pair is best placed near the centre of an Arab mercenary formation rather than at its outer edge. Surround them with infantry and the standard becomes a natural focal point.
