MAC-07B – Three Phalangites with Red Shields
MAC-07B adds another three red-shield Phalangites to the Macedonian army, providing further options for building a large, visually consistent pike block.
The success of the phalanx rested on a simple but demanding principle: individual soldiers had to function as part of the formation. Gaps, broken alignment or difficult terrain could undermine the advantage provided by the sarissa.
When the ranks held together, however, the frontal power of the unit could be formidable.
This makes MAC-07B particularly rewarding when displayed with the other B variants. The repeated red shields create unity, while the differing figures give the formation life.
Use several rows rather than one long line and allow the projecting pikes to create the unmistakable depth of a Macedonian phalanx.
